Cork, Ireland’s largest county, has a busy CBD market, from shops in Cork city to buyers in Mallow, Midleton, Clonakilty, Bantry and Youghal. Is CBD legal in Cork?
CBD law is the same in Cork as everywhere else in the Republic of Ireland. CBD oils, capsules and gummies are legal when they are sold as food supplements, correctly labelled and free from THC, the intoxicating compound in cannabis. CBD creams and balms are sold as cosmetics. The Food Safety Authority of Ireland oversees CBD supplements, which cannot claim to treat or cure any illness. Smokable hemp flower (“CBD bud”) is not legal in Ireland, and HHC became a controlled drug on 29 July 2025. If you see either for sale in Cork, avoid it.

Most people in Cork now buy CBD online. Irish online shops usually offer the widest range of strengths, publish lab reports, and deliver to Cork within one to two working days.
Health food shops
Cork city has several health food shops, pharmacies and specialist CBD shops, and the English Market area and city centre are home to independent wellbeing retailers. County towns such as Mallow, Midleton, Clonakilty, Skibbereen and Bantry also have health food shops. Health services and support in Cork
Cork University Hospital, the Mercy University Hospital and the South Infirmary Victoria University Hospital provide acute and specialist care, including pain services, with Mallow and Bantry General Hospitals serving parts of the county. Choosing a strength and type
CBD oils sold in Ireland usually range from 5% to 30%. A 10% oil (1,000mg in 10ml) gives roughly 5mg of CBD per drop, which makes small, measured amounts easy, and that is why many first-time buyers start there. Higher strengths are not “stronger” in effect, only more concentrated, so you need fewer drops and the price per milligram is often lower. Full spectrum extracts keep a wide range of hemp compounds, broad spectrum extracts have THC removed, and isolates are CBD on its own. Whichever you choose, the lab report matters more than the label term: check that THC is not detected and that the CBD content matches the bottle. Follow the recommended daily serving on the label and do not exceed it.
CBD and pain: the honest picture for Cork readers
