Black Friday is the biggest sale period of the year for many CBD shops serving Malta. It can be a good time to stock up, but it is also when inflated “was” prices and poor-quality products are pushed hardest. This guide covers the 2026 dates, how to judge a genuine deal, and the Maltese rules to keep in mind.
When is Black Friday 2026?
Black Friday 2026 falls on Friday 27 November 2026, with Cyber Monday on 30 November. Many online shops start offers a week or more earlier. If you are ordering from elsewhere in the EU for Christmas, allow extra delivery time to Malta and Gozo.
How to judge a CBD deal
Price per milligram
Divide the price by the total CBD. A 1,000mg bottle at €60 is 6 cent per mg; a “buy one get one free” offer that gives 2,000mg for €60 is 3 cent per mg.
Check the “was” price
A big percentage off means little if the original price was inflated just before the sale.
Best-before dates
Only stock up on what you will use before the date, usually 12 to 24 months for unopened oil.
Lab reports and THC
In Malta, finished CBD products must contain no more than 0.2% THC. A cheap product without a lab report is not a bargain.
Delivery and customs
Buying from an EU seller avoids customs charges. Check delivery times to Malta and Gozo before relying on an order for Christmas gifts.
Is CBD legal in Malta?
Malta has one of Europe’s most distinctive cannabis frameworks. In 2021 it became the first EU country to legalise limited personal use of cannabis by adults: possession of up to 7 grams, growing up to four plants at home, and buying through licensed non-profit cannabis associations regulated by the Authority on the Responsible Use of Cannabis (ARUC). That is separate from CBD. For CBD products, Maltese guidance treats non-intoxicating cannabinoids such as CBD as allowable in food supplements, cosmetics and wellness products when the finished product contains no more than 0.2% THC and complies with EU and Maltese product rules. Amendments in 2025 (Bill 128) aimed to define CBD and THC products more clearly and to keep synthetic cannabinoids such as HHC out of the legal CBD market. Rules are still evolving, so check current guidance before buying or selling.
Deals to avoid
- Social media sellers with huge discounts and no lab reports.
- “THC”, “HHC” or “delta-8” products at any price.
- Products making medical claims.
- Sellers with no EU address or contact details.
Buying CBD as a gift
CBD can suit someone who already uses it. For anyone else, ask first: CBD is not suitable in pregnancy or while breastfeeding, can interact with medicines, and is not for children. A gift card lets the person choose.

Choosing a strength and type
CBD oils sold in Malta usually range from about 5% to 30%. A 10% oil (1,000mg in 10ml) gives roughly 5mg of CBD per drop, which makes small, measured amounts easy, so many first-time buyers start there. Higher strengths are not stronger in effect, only more concentrated: fewer drops, and often a lower price per milligram. Full spectrum extracts keep a wide range of hemp compounds, broad spectrum extracts have THC removed, and isolates are CBD on its own. Whatever the label says, the lab report is what matters: check the CBD content matches the bottle and that THC is within the legal limit or not detected. Follow the recommended daily serving on the label and do not exceed it.
The EU picture in brief
Across the EU, CBD sits in a grey area. No CBD food or supplement has yet been authorised under the EU novel food rules, so each country decides how strictly to enforce them, which is why rules differ so much between neighbours. Hemp may be grown with up to 0.3% THC in the plant. In 2020 the EU Court of Justice ruled in the Kanavape case that CBD is not a narcotic and that member states should not ban CBD lawfully produced elsewhere in the EU without good reason. CBD cosmetics are generally allowed across the EU. Rules are changing quickly, so check official sources before you buy or travel.
Six checks before you buy, anywhere
- An independent lab report with a batch number matching your product.
- THC not detected (or below the local legal limit).
- CBD stated in milligrams per bottle and per serving.
- A full label in a language you understand, with the business address.
- No medical claims.
- A seller with real contact details in the EU.
Travelling with CBD to or from Malta
Before travelling, check the rules in your destination and any country you pass through. Keep CBD in its original labelled packaging, carry a copy of the lab report, and follow airport liquid limits. Never travel with hemp flower or any product containing THC, HHC or other controlled cannabinoids. Some countries outside the EU treat any cannabis-derived product as a serious drug offence.
Using CBD safely
- Talk to a doctor or pharmacist first if you take any medication; CBD can interact with some medicines.
- Keep within the recommended daily serving on the label.
- CBD is not recommended in pregnancy, while breastfeeding, or for children.
- Do not drive if it makes you drowsy.
- CBD supplements cannot claim to treat any illness.
Stocking up safely
- Buy only what you will use before the best-before date.
- Store unopened bottles upright in a cool, dark cupboard; Malta’s summer heat can affect oils and melt gummies.
- Do not take more because you have more in the house; keep to the recommended daily serving.
- Keep extra stock out of reach of children and pets, especially over Christmas.
