CBD oil is now one of the most widely sold food supplements in Ireland. You can buy it online, in health food shops, in some pharmacies and in specialist CBD stores. That choice is good news, but it also means quality varies a lot. This guide explains where to buy CBD oil in Ireland, the pros and cons of each option, and the checks that matter more than where you shop.

The short answer
Buy from a seller that can show you a recent, independent lab report for the batch you are buying, states the CBD content in milligrams, confirms the product does not contain THC, and has a real Irish address and phone number. That can be an online shop, a pharmacy or a health food store. Avoid market stalls, social media sellers and anyone who cannot answer basic questions.
Option 1: Irish online shops
Most CBD oil in Ireland is now bought online. Irish online shops usually offer the widest range of strengths, publish lab reports on their product pages, and deliver within one or two working days.
- Pros: easy to compare lab reports and price per milligram; wider range; fast delivery; no customs charges when the seller ships from Ireland.
- Cons: you cannot ask questions face to face; some websites look professional but sell poorly labelled products.
Look for a physical address in Ireland, a phone number, a returns policy and clear delivery terms. Since Brexit, parcels from the UK can attract customs and VAT charges, so check where an order actually ships from.
Option 2: Pharmacies
Some Irish pharmacies stock a small range of CBD oils and creams. Pharmacists cannot give you medical claims about CBD, but they can check whether CBD might interact with any medicines you take, which is genuinely useful.

- Cons: smaller range; often higher price per milligram; lab reports not always on display.
Option 3: Health food shops
Health food stores were among the first places to sell CBD in Ireland and many still carry several brands. Staff are often knowledgeable, and you can see the packaging before you buy.
- Pros: local, you can ask questions, several brands in one place.
- Cons: range and stock vary; ask to see the lab report for the exact product.
Option 4: Specialist CBD and hemp shops
Dublin and some larger towns have dedicated CBD or hemp shops. They tend to stock more formats, such as oils, capsules, gummies, creams and teas. Some also sell products that are not legal in Ireland, such as smokable hemp flower, or products containing HHC, which became a controlled drug in Ireland in July 2025. Stick to oils, capsules, gummies and topicals with clear labels and lab reports.
Where not to buy CBD oil
- Market stalls, festivals and pop-up sellers with no lab reports.
- Social media accounts and messaging apps.
- Marketplaces where the seller is unknown or based outside the EU.
- Any seller claiming CBD cures, treats or prevents a disease. That is not allowed for food supplements in Ireland and suggests the business is not careful about rules.
- Products described as “high THC”, “THC oil”, HHC or “delta-8”. These are not legal CBD products in Ireland.
Six checks before you pay, wherever you shop
- Lab report: an independent certificate of analysis with a batch number matching the bottle.
- THC result: the report should show THC is not detected.
- CBD in milligrams: total per bottle and per drop or serving.
- Price per mg: divide the price by total CBD in mg to compare fairly.
- Label: ingredients, batch number, best-before date, daily serving and company address.
- No health claims: food supplements cannot claim to treat illness.

Is CBD oil legal to buy in Ireland?
Yes. CBD products are legal to buy in Ireland when they are sold correctly as food supplements or cosmetics and do not contain controlled substances such as THC. The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) oversees food supplements, and the HPRA regulates medicines. CBD prescription medicines are a separate category and are only available through a doctor.
How much does CBD oil cost in Ireland?
In 2026, a 10ml bottle of 10% CBD oil (1,000mg) from an Irish company typically costs between about €50 and €65, which is roughly 5 to 6.5 cent per milligram. Lower strengths cost less per bottle but often more per milligram. Very cheap oils are worth checking closely: low prices can mean little CBD in the bottle.
Online or in person: which is better?
If you already know what you want, an Irish online shop is usually cheaper per milligram and easier for comparing lab reports. If you are new to CBD or take medication, a conversation with a pharmacist first is sensible, even if you then buy online. Either way, the checks above matter more than the shop itself.

How to read a CBD oil label in Ireland
A properly labelled CBD food supplement sold in Ireland should tell you, in English, exactly what is in the bottle and how much to take. Look for the name of the product, the total CBD per bottle in milligrams, the amount per drop or per recommended serving, the full ingredient list, the recommended daily serving with a warning not to exceed it, a statement that food supplements should not replace a varied diet, a batch or lot number, a best-before date, storage instructions and the name and address of the business responsible.
If any of those are missing, ask the seller why. A missing batch number is a particular red flag, because without it there is no way to link the bottle to a lab report.
Delivery, returns and customer service
When you buy online, check how long delivery takes, what it costs and whether there is a free delivery threshold. Most Irish CBD shops dispatch within one working day and deliver anywhere in Ireland in one to three days. Check the returns policy too. Opened food supplements usually cannot be returned for hygiene reasons, but damaged or incorrect items should be replaced. A business that answers emails or the phone quickly is a good sign.
Buying CBD for pets
Some Irish shops also sell CBD products made for dogs and cats. Pet products should be made for animals, not human oils with a different label. Speak to your vet first, particularly if your pet takes medication, and use only products with clear dosing by body weight. Never give pets products containing xylitol, chocolate or essential oils that are harmful to animals.
