BDI SUCCESS AT THESIS IN 3 EVENT
On November 9th, BDI postgraduate researcher Séan Fitzgerald won 3rd Prize in the CSET Thesis in Three competition, which ran as part of Innovation Dublin.
Séan's winning presentation was entitled "How TRIM is your Bowel? - Marker Protein Expression in Colorectal Cancer". Séan is in his first year of study for a PhD at the Biomedical Diagnostics Institute under the supervision of Dr. Gregor Kijanka and Prof. Richard O'Kennedy. Séan's research is focused on marker protein expression in colorectal cancer, for incorporation into novel point-of-care devices.
The event held in the Mansion House, Dublin was organised by Clarity & CNGL. 25 PhD students from 6 SFI funded CSETs gave their elevator pitches on their PhD research.
On the night over 200 audience members were entertained by bite-sized pieces of research projects in 3 slides of 3 minutes each. The event was sponsored by the participating CSETS: CLARITY, CNGL, CRANN, SBI, Lero, DERI, APC, CTVR and BDI.
Also taking part in the competition from the BDI were Dr. Vijayalakshmi Ayyar and Ruairi Monaghan. Congratulations to all those that took part.
